Children’s Advocacy Center of Eastern Arkansas (CACEA) is a program of Counseling Services of Eastern Arkansas to provide comprehensive services to children who are victims of child abuse. CACEA is housed at CSEA’s West Memphis clinic. CACEA employs a full-time Forensic Interviewer who has received specialized training from the American Prosecutor’s Research Institute for interviewing child victims. CACEA provides a child-friendly setting to make children comfortable during their visit. The child interview room is equipped with video-recording equipment and observation capability where interviews can be observed in an adjacent office. CACEA encourages law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and child protective services investigators to observe interviews conducted by our Forensic Interviewer to reduce the number of interviews a child must undergo. One of Crittenden County Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys is co-located at CACEA to facilitate communication during the investigation process. CACEA employs a Child Advocate who provides supportive services to child victims and their non-offending family members. CACEA partners with Memphis Sexual Assault Resource Center in Memphis, Tennessee who provides child-appropriate sexual assault exams when needed. Counseling Services of Eastern Arkansas provides mental health services to victims and their non-offending family members onsite. By recognizing the special needs of children, CACEA programs work to minimize trauma, break the cycle of abuse and provide communities with an added bonus, increased prosecution rates for perpetrators. Services provided by CACEA include:
- Forensic Interviews
- Victim Advocacy
- Court Accompaniment
- Counseling & Crisis Intervention
- Parenting Classes
- Child Abuse Prevention Education
- Facilitation of the multi-disciplinary approach to intervention, investigation, prosecution and treatment of abuse
